A total of six people involved in medical care and welfare in Sweden were interviewed. Furthermore, their semantic interpretations were analyzed. Insights into the current state of poverty and institutional and home care in Sweden were gained. In Japan, as the number of single-person households increase, it is desirable that there are multiple options for the final stage of life. IN addition, society should respect the self-determination of older adults and not be biased towards excessive home-based principles. Furthermore, the institutional care staff experienced the death of a person who was not a direct family member, however, had become close to the staff(coined a 2.5th person by the author).
